Ivar Vehler on passenger consciousness, the trap of identifying with our qualities, and the stillness beneath reflection

Ivar Vehler is a 6/2 Emotional Manifesting Generator, a sociologist by training with studies in organizational sociology at the University of Oslo and UC Berkeley. Based in Oslo, Norway, he has spent more than two decades in leadership development and mindfulness teaching, including eight years of in-depth training with his teacher Vigdis Garbarek. Human Design is not his core modality, and he comes to it from long contemplative practice and a commitment to going to the fundamentals of whatever he meets.

In this episode, Ivar offers his own reading of passenger consciousness, developed for a lecture he gave in Norway after finding little substance in the way the term is usually handled. We explore what happens when identification with our qualities closes off the capacity to observe them, and what it means to hold those qualities as something given rather than something personal. The conversation moves through authority and the influence of ideals, the difference between seeking and running from what feels unbearable, the place of a strong sense of I, the stillness at the base of the Root, and the way reflection and discernment come out of that stillness. Ivar also speaks about no choice as something that arrives when action stops being personal, about innocence and the absence of shame, and about honesty as the practical face of truth.
